The Renault Duster 1.5dCi EDC

The Duster- frankly stated, is one big ticket value for money. Pulling in as the Winner for: Small SUV of the Year 2019 (CAR Top 12 Best Buys Award).

If you are in the market for a smaller SUV, this is one rugged well priced little piece of muscle that can proudly stand on its own. With a lead foot on the 1.5 dCi EDC I could achieve a 5.4l/100km otherwise this capable diesel engine ran at an average of 4.8l/100km. Pumping out a powerful ratio of 80kW and 250Nm. This little engine grips the highway easily giving you a fair and satisfying overtake ability. Are you based in the suburbs with a couple hill stops? – Not a problem at all.

For a choice in the derivatives it would be between the petrol powered old 1.6L 16V and two versions of the diesel 1.5dCi turbo diesel engine.

Aesthetically the facade of the Duster has a conquered illusion, with the front bumper arching upwards towards the grill. Now focusing on the back profile, where the windows curves upwards toward the lifted rear- brings the focus back to the sporty influenced crossed back lights. Together with the rugged arched trims behind the 16”/17” wheels- that has good looking alloy geometric profiled rims(optional) and charcoal/silver sporty bumpers. The Duster really does have the aesthetics, confidence and a spec list to take on the challenging dirt road, as well as the suburbs.

Tested and tried, the off road handling for the Duster comes like second nature; smoothly and comfortably gliding over the expect bumps, ditches and jolts. Ultimately the 1.5dCi provides you with the much-needed torque (ranging between 210nm-260nm) with an overall grip on your experience.

Although the images are from the TechRoad 1.5 dCi 4X2 EDC. I think it is still important to know; sitting ready at the entry range. The Duster Expression derivative is functionally inclined. Equipped with the essentials and deprived from a few luxuries such as: electric side mirrors, rear electric windows, infotainment and park assist. Luckily you would still be looking at a comprehensive package.

Finally throwing fuel efficiency, good looks, great handling, and ultimately a price tag that won’t shock the savings, into one basket. The Duster really is on my top pick for an off-road vehicle, I can easily highly recommend this vehicle to anyone in the market for a smaller SUV.
