There’s no hiding the fact that the Opel Adam evokes curiosity among the general South Africa population. It doesn’t matter where you drive in an Adam, whether through the busy city streets, or small country towns, you’re constantly noticing how much attention this little vehicle gets.
People are always looking, asking about it and we’re glad they do, because the Adam is a breath of fresh air and seems to offer the kind of versatility you don’t find with any other vehicle out there right now.

Naturally, the novelty of being able to customize your own car is one that an owner of an Adam is not likely to tire of easily. Yes, you heard correctly – this is a vehicle you can adapt the look of to suit your character, personality and even your mood of the moment – very cool, indeed!
The Opel Adam manages to cleverly walk the line between slick city car and supermini, and because it does well in holding its own against rivals from both segments with its fresh and funky outward appearance, it’s still stylish and modern both inside and out.

Opel offer a vast array of decal packs across the Adam range, from wheel colour and size options, to roof and body colour which are interchangeable at the drop of a hat! Certain interior finishes simply clip off and make it possible to clip on a different piece of coloured kit should you tire of the previous option.
There are different seat finishes, trim insert and roof linings to choose from, logo bars, side mirror colour options, interior décor kits, and even right down to sports alloy pedals are customizable  – literally a thousand different combinations between these finishes offer an endless palette of customization and we love that!

On a more technical note, our test model, the Opel Adam Jam’s 1 liter Turbo charged engine, 86kW/166Nm courses through a 6speed engine and is surprisingly nippy. Handling is surprisingly good pulling it through hard bends and it feels almost go-kart-ish. Fitted with a sports chassis, the Adam a small, almost squat-like vehicle, and weight is distributed well through situations that require a little more ‘stick’. Power in and out of cornering is smooth and it holds its composure really well throughout. Its suprisingly frugal too, with figures around the 6l/100km mark.8B2A0884

The rest of the Adam range offers an entry level option, the ‘Adam’, kitted with a 1.4liter, 74kW/130Nm 5speed manual gearbox. Although this is the most affordable option in the range at R189, 900, Opel weren’t at all shy with the punch it packs in the features department; 15” Alloy Wheels, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Start Assist, 6 Airbags – D+P+S+C, Passenger Airbag De-activation, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Rear Fog Lamps, Anti-theft Alarm and Immobilizer, Cruise Control + Speed Limiter offer absolutely everything you can ask for, and tons more, when it comes to an entry level vehicle.

Next up we have the Adam Jams 1l Turbo charged engine, kicking out a healthy 85kW/166Nm and 6speed manual gearbox with standard features such as Start / Stop Engine Control, Sports Chassis (with 17″/18″ wheels only), 15″ Brake Discs, 16” Alloy Wheels, Front and Rear, LED Daytime Running Lights, Brake Lights and Dual Tone Horn, 7″ Touchscreen Intellilink with BT, USB, AUX, Advanced Parking Aid 2 (APA2), Front and Rear Park Sensors and many more cool features. The pricetag on the Jam is a decent R209, 900 which is more than fair for what is offered.

Then there is the Adam Glam, which comes in at R232, 900 and is kitted out to the max; Auto dimming rear view mirror, auto wipers, auto headlights, electronic climate control, 8 multi-colour adjustable ambient lighting for a funky interior ambience, panoramic sunroof, 17” Alloys and tinted steel interior décor are just a few features that offer top class functionality and a fresh take on style and personal customization.

We really had a lot of fun with the Opel Adam and the vehicle really does appeal to the creatives at heart who love to express themselves through every accessory they own.
This is the kind of funky little hatch that not only appeals to the “cool kid” market, but is a perfect city car for the young individual or couple who love to be seen.

Opel offer a 3 years / 60 000km Service Plan,  5 years / Unlimited kms Anti-Corrosion Warranty and 5 years / 120 000km Warranty and Roadside Assist.
